SIE is located at the second largest port city Sekondi in Ghana, the planning area for Phase-I is 10 sq km, 7 sq km for the Phase-II.
According to the agreement in September 2010 btn Chinese and Ghanaian governments, China Development Bank would provide a loan package of USD 3 billion in order to improve infrastructure and major industries in Ghana.
As an important part of the loan program, SIE is positioned as a free zone for mining, mineral processing, and trading. It’s expected to build a platform to introduce investment from China to help Ghanaian government in mineral resource exploitation, including silica sand, aluminium, limestone, manganese, iron, and gold ore, etc.
Hasan International was awarded the developer of SIE by Ghanaian government, responsible for engineering, construction, investment promotion, and operation.
